Winter Camp at Pakwash Lake Camp

Thanks to Kim and Denis at Pakwash Lake Camp, the Ear Falls Scouts were able to hold a winter camp close to home complete with an emergency heated cabin.

Scouts spent most of Saturday building their quinzees and cooking over an open fire.

Christmas Potluck

The annual family Christmas potluck supper took place on December 14 at the Ear Falls Legion. Thanks to the legion for the great decorations and for putting on the coffee. The beavers and scouts provided the entertainment and the parents provided the applause.

Christmas Parade

The Scouts entered a float in the Annual Ear Falls Christmas Parade and won first prize!

Apple Day 2008

The Ear Falls Scouts knocked on every door in town on Saturday, October 25th and offered residents an apple. All told, the beavers and scouts raised around $600 to support their programs.

Annual Wilderness Camping Trip

Now that it's been done for two years in a row, we can call our October camping trip an annual event! For the second year, the Ear Falls Scouts camped on the Ear Falls Skiing Trails for a weekend. The Scouts brought in their own gear and didn't have the luxury of a cabin or even a toilet!

Between cooking, hiking and playing games, the Scouts had a great time. Madison was quoted as saying, "I liked everything about this camp."

The weather was mostly fair. It wasn't too cold, but it wasn't too hot either. A bit of rain encouraged us to set up a tarp which was welcome when more rain came.

Epic Time at Ear Falls Fall Fair

The Ear Falls Scouts participated in the epic Ear Falls Fall Fair on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Ear Falls Plaza parking lot.

The fair challenged all participants to build a scarecrow to enter in the people's choice awards. Our scarecrow is shown in the attached photograph. Some of the Scouts met the night before and built the scarecrow which features a full Scout uniform wearing a large backpack. The Scout Scarecrow won second place and a $25 gift certificate for the local Home Hardware.

18-Wheeler Rally in Kenora

The Ear Falls Scouts travelled to Kenora to race their 18-Wheelers. The Scouts all came home with one prize or another thanks to the great efforts of the Kenora Scouting groups.

In the afternoon, the Scouts were able to get their feet wet in the Michael Smith pool.

Remembrance Day 2007

Greetings all Scouters from Northwestern ON.
Our Sioux Lookout Cubs and Beavers took part in their first ever Remembrance Day parade this fall. It was really good to have the kids out with the veterans. Lots of people stopped to thank us for marching with them. It s good for the kids to see the veterans first hand, and to take part in their day. Looking forward to meeting many of you in the years to come.
Hopefully you will come up to see us and stay at our camp. Camp Mitchell has been renevated and is ready for Scouting once again.

Yours in Scouting Todd Martelle aka: "Akella"
